MATHEW McWILLIAMS

Mathew McWilliams (b. 1973, Vancouver) lives and works in Paris. His practice intertwines painting, drawing, and photography as interconnected languages, through which he investigates the processes of image construction. His works emerge from essential procedures and an experimental use of paper, canvas, and print, where the materials themselves generate unexpected forms and possibilities.

His work develops through subtraction and allusion, maintaining a silent and measured character, and reflects on the relationship between sign, surface and reproduction, between visual experience and its translation.
