The core of T-Yong Chung's research focuses on the image as a contact zone between two convex surfaces: the eye and the world. In this space of intersection, vision is never a unilateral act, but a process of reciprocity in which subject and object touch and redefine each other.
In his works on paper and canvas, the translation of volume into surface gives rise to hollow forms and emptied containers: archaic and contemporary objects reduced to essential structures, traversed by dematerialized colors. Hybrid images emerge, suspended between full and empty, where form is defined as a trace of a passage rather than a stable presence.
