T-Yong Chung's research centers on the image as a point of contact between two convex surfaces: the eye and the world. In this intersectional space, vision is never a unilateral act but a process of reciprocity where subject and object touch and redefine each other.
In his works on paper and canvas, the translation of volume into surface gives rise to hollow forms and emptied containers: archaic and contemporary objects reduced to essential structures, traversed by dematerialized colors. Hybrid images emerge, suspended between fullness and emptiness, where form is defined as a trace of a passage rather than a stable presence.
